Hi folks,
I need to create an Jira Automation based in a Issue Time Register (1).
In a specif issue, i want to block time register if the dev don't write the Work Description (2)
I only get do a automation to send e-mail, but not to block.
Can someone help me?
Hello @Marcos Ferreira
Automation cannot be used to prevent an action from executing because automation rules are triggered after an action has occurred.
You could possibly reverse the completed action, but you can't prevent it.
It is not currently possible to make the Work Description field mandatory in the native Work Logging feature. There is a change request for that to which you can add your vote.

Another post I found suggested that using a time tracking app like Tempo would allow you to make a description/comment field mandatory for Work Logging, but I have not verified that myself.
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
I'm with HeroCoders, the team behind Clockwork.
If you're interested in using an app to solve this problem, you can do it with Clockwork.
Our app features a global setting that can make worklog description a required field when manually adding a worklog. You can learn more about it on our documentation page.
This will not work on timers though, as these have a default description to indicate if the timer was started manually or automatically.
If you'd be interested in using our app and making human input for worklog description a prerequisite for starting or stopping a timer, please feel free to let us know here or via our service portal.
Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Wojciech
