How to Fix an Export to PDF Error on Confluence

suresh-bitbucket41 September 14, 2021

When I try to export a page to a PDF on Confluence I am getting an error that says "Page not found"

I was able to export pages to PDF fine few days ago and today it just stopped working. We have not added or changed anything in confluence since it was working.. And it was working in Stage server, only production it's showing this issue,

And I am providing some information.

1. Confluence version: 7.4.0

2. The issue occur for all pages.

3. The name of page doesn't have any special characters (eg. "test" as the page name)

Search turns up a few suggestions:

From https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-questions/Export-to-PDF-results-in-a-Page-Not-Found-error/qaq-p/837611:

  • You can try clearing plug-ins cache by following steps in: How to clear confluence plugins cache .
  • Check if Confluence is starting with a designated user account that has access to confluence home directory, in particularly /temp, in case permissions are set to let's say "confluence" and service is started with root by an accident
  • Try bypassing proxy, as proxy case it might be blocking certain files or requests
  • If your instance is running on Windows, try deleting the "path to file" from URL until you only see a file name, for example if you have "c:/confluence/temp/filename.pdf" or something similar, leave only filename.pdf

And from https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-questions/confluence-PDF-Export-Gives-quot-Page-Not-Found-quot-Error/qaq-p/1053950:

  1. Can you confirm there are no PDF customisations set on the instance?
  2. Enable safe mode on your Confluence instance and try to replicate the issue.
  3. Create a single page with just text, no images, and see if you can successfully export this.

And lastly, you might check with your Confluence admin to see if they happened to change the temp folder to a symlink:
