How to Handle Duplicate Usernames

mfarrell January 10, 2018

We have several AD directories we are using to authenticate our users. We have recently discovered that two of our users have the same user name although they are in different AD's and they have different email addresses. What is the best way to handle this scenario so that both users can authenticate against their respective AD's without having to change their usernames? Options?

We are on Jira 7.3.1

There's no way to do this.  Jira will look for a user name and use the first one it finds in a directory, ignoring any duplicates.

You need to have one of your users change their user name.

Thank you. Not what I wanted to hear but it is what it is.
