How to Iterate Jira Project Phase

I have been trying to look for the best solution to iterate certain phases of project (epics), incase there are ever failed reviews and we have to roll back to the recent project phase without leaving a messy papertrail behind. Besides deep-cloning the epics as one of the solutions, what are the other best alteratives to consider when repeating phases of a project, while keeping the phases well-organized and not having to tkae too many steps. We use epics as our projects and projects as our departments/teams. I was thinking I can add an issue type above epics, which are initiatives to better organize the projects overall.
