How to Make Complete Sprint Not Viewable to Everyone in New UI

In the old UI, I don't recall the "Complete Sprint" being viewable to everyone on the project. It used to say how many days were left in the sprint. Now they can see it and happy clickers have tried to click on it to see what it would do. They do not have permission to manage sprints so when they click on it it tells them they're not authorized to close the sprint. Any idea how to remove visibility of "Complete Sprint" and just have the days left again or is this just a UI change we have to deal with?

Hey @Mandy Trickey

I checked this on both old and new UI. The 'Complete Sprint' button is available for all users. However, only the ones with Manage Sprint permission will be able to complete the sprint. Others get a message to contact their admins to grant them permissions.

I'm not sure if this is a recent change though.

Thanks!

HI @Karan Sachdev

This is not intended to have or needed. This is confusing for users.

This was good in the old GUI.

I say this is a Bug!!!

Opened a support ticket with Atlassian and they have replied this is a newly released feature and expected behavior.  Since it is not breaking any functionalities (like it is not allowing the non-permitted users to perform sprint related actions) they believe this new feature should not impact the experience of using JIRA. I suggested they grey out the button to make it less out there for happy clickers. The support manager indicated they will capture the feedback and share it with their internal developers.

Hi @Mandy Trickey

This could be the case, but I still think it's confusing and not helping a scrum team.

I agree with you that it should visualize the sprint time remaining.

HI @Mandy Trickey

Check your permission scheme on the project and the permission "Manage Sprints", what Roles, Groups and Users are mentioned?

Only the correct ones and in the project access do only the required users have this Role, if the permission is roles based

Otherwise refer this to Atlassian Support

As this could be an issue on your instance or a BUG in the new GUI.

I checked the permissions and they're correct, and when someone clicks on it it doesn't allow them do anything - they get an error. Just didn't recall it being there before or the ability for them to actually click on it. My developers actually brought it to my attention when they noticed it and it didn't say how many days were left in the sprint anymore.

Hi @Mandy Trickey

I would contact Atlassian in this case.

It could be a bug in the new GUI.
