How to Transfer a Jira Project with All Issues to Another Account

Kateryna Shapovalova

Hello,
Could you please advise on how to transfer a project in Jira along with all existing issues to another Jira account? I’m specifically interested in moving the entire project, including issues, comments, statuses, and attachments. What options and limitations should I be aware of for such a transfer?
Thank you!

Hi @Kateryna Shapovalova

If you’re looking for a quick and easy solution to move issues across projects, I can suggest trying our app Elements Copy & Sync. You'll be able to bulk clone all your issues from one project to another wether the projects are on the same site or not and with all their fields (comments, attachments, labels and more).

You can also check this article that will give you more insights about project configuration cloning: https://community.atlassian.com/forums/App-Central-articles/How-to-clone-a-project-in-Jira-answering-your-most-common/ba-p/2900717

Hello @Kateryna Shapovalova

By moving to another do you mean your account under a different domain or to move it to assign everything to a different user? Moving from one project to another only has limitation when you are migrating from team-managed project to company-managed project and vice versa. The limitation for that could be found here: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/migrate-between-team-managed-and-company-managed-projects/

Hello @Kateryna Shapovalova ,
Are you refering MOVING as: (What' exactly another JIRA account refers to?)

  • Between different instance?
  • Within the instance?
    • You can use the MOVE function in Bulk changes option. Ref here.

Note: As when you use Cloud - Cloud -> Everything required data is retained, if you do MOVE issues within instance from Project A to B > All the links, comments, attachments, history is retained except the JIRA KEY ( Ex. KEY-10 can be changed to KEY-2 or KEY-40)
