How to Upgrade Jira software sever 7.3.1 to any other version

Hi All,

I am planning to Upgrade my Jira software Server 7.3.1 to any other latest version.

So, Can any one please tell me the step by step procedure how to do it ? Because am new to JIRA.

Is upgradation steps same for any version ?

A similar question was answered by Thomas B regarding upgrading from 7.3.1. Thomas' biggest issue was the SQL connection string format changing; 

The format changes during the upgrade due to a new SQL Driver but the format change in the config file was not changed automatically during the process.

Thomas referenced the Upgrading JIRA Tutorial that you could follow.
