How to add a task as a parent for an automatically created sub-tasks.

Osama Al-Areky January 24, 2024

Hello,

I use automation to create tasks, and then I use a branch to create subtasks, but I need to to make the created task as the parent of the created subtasks as shown on the photo below, how can I do that please? because for now when the subtasks are created they don't have a parent. What triggers this rule is the epic, but I don't want the subtask to have the epic as their parent, but rather to have the task that they branched from to be their parent.

Thank you,

Hi @Osama Al-Areky

Rather than using the Create Issue action, have you tried using the Create Subtask action?  That will use the current issue's context (that is, the branched-to issue) as the parent.

Kind regards,
Bill

Hi @Osama Al-Areky ,

the rule looks good as written. You have created a task and then for the most recently created task you are creating sub tasks under that task. So those sub tasks should have that newly created task as the parent. You further explain what exactly is happening when you execute this rule?
