How to add buttons in the workflow validator input template that is rendered on add validation?

Hi All,

I have been following this tutorial for adding the custom workflow validator via Plugin:

Upon implementation, when we trying to add the validation in a particular transition the attached screen pops-up which asks for the required value and custom field, which is being added in the input.vm file. 

Upon seeing there are buttons like update and cancel appearing on the screen which are no where mentioned in the .vm file.

My questions are:

1. How are these jira buttons automatically appearing on the screen?

2. Is there a way we can configure these buttons in our plugin only?

3. Can we modify the functionality of these buttons?
