How to add custom field to issue sidebar

Daniel Kladov August 24, 2021

We have a GIT flow that includes few branches for developers to clone from to develop new functionality and we want to introduce a new field in Jira issue view that will basically tell the developer what branch should the code be based on.

I haven't been able to find the right custom field in Board settings -> Issue Detail View.

We need this field to be as the labels field (to create and select existing options) but named Branch.

Hi Daniel, welcome to the community!

If you you're using Company-managed projects you can create a new "Custom field" with the same functionality as the "Labels" just follow the instructions below
https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/create-a-custom-field/

Then you need to add the field to your issue screens.

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/add-a-custom-field-to-a-screen/

Thanks,

Melo
