How to add more fields in the

Mihaela Tache December 22, 2022

Hi,

I want to use the "Release notes" feature in Jira but the formatting tool "Issue Fields" doesn't display all the issue fields enabled.

Steps: Create release notes -> Create in This version -> Issue Fields -> Formatting options -> Issue Fields select list only allows the selection of few fields such as Issue Key, Description, and Environment.

I have tried modifying the layout/screen scheme/.. but without result.

Is this a limitation? If not, how to add more fields from ISSUE FIELDS when creating the Release note?

Thanks!

Hello @Mihaela Tache

That is not currently possible. There is a change request which you can vote/comment on here:

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-41489

Here is another post on this same topic where some of the responses suggest third party apps to use an an alternative for creating Release Notes:

Hi @Trudy Claspill

I have the same problem with a few of my projects in jira, where the release note formating menu only provide s a limited set of the jira fields available to include in the release notes. However I have one project with virtually all the fields available! So to my mind there must be a way to configure so the required fields do show. It may not be possible from within releases but else where. Like @Mihaela Tache I tried layout screen schemes etc without success.

Hello @derek_mensah-kane

The original post is over 2 years old and marked as solved. Also, when you add to an existing post the only people who see it are the original post author and people who replied to the post. Both of these result in your addition/question/request getting very low visibility.

To best leverage the community to get suggestions relevant to your question, please start a brand new Question post.

In it I would suggest that you provide more information such as:

  • Screen images show the differences you see between field lists in different Release Notes
  • Details about the type of project to which the Release Notes apply (Company Managed or Team Managed)
  • Confirmation that you have tried to use the Search option in the fields pop-up to search for the fields you want but don't find
  • Information about the field type of the missing fields.
