Im trying to add the resolution field to my project so I can create workflows with it, but for some reason it will not show up. Any thoughts?
Ive tried going into global settings and added it to the default scheme but still no dice.
Hello ,
Resolution field is only placed in "Transition screen".
Create a s new screen with resolution field only. And name the screen as "Resolution screen"
Select the workflow transition which is connected to "Done" / "Closed". Edit the transition and choose "Resolution screen" in screen tab.
Save the workflow. Now create a sample ticket , when you click on transition to Done / closed a screen will be populated and choose the suitable resolution.
I apologize I cannot follow. Are you able to take screenshots of what you mean?

@KAGITHALA BABU ANVESH@Chris Finckis working on a Next-Gen project. You can't make the resolution visible. You can set a resolution programmatically. I suppose if you create a new text-based called resolution then you could copy the resolution value to that field but I haven't tried that yet.

@Danno I noticed when you mark one as done though the resolution is shown on issues detail views now. I just need to be able to change the resolution

So this might be a workaround for you. I thought about this and it would require you to have project admin access. If you create a custom dropdown field you could use it as your resolution field. You can use the next-gen workflow to set the field to whatever resolution you would like it to be. I would also recommend you use the automation feature to set the real resolution field. This way you can set the custom resolution to whatever the real resolution is. Here are two screenshots to explain the basics:

I think there is a way to make this more usable and semi-automated. It might also be a good idea to limit who can set this "resolution" to the project lead/admin. I'll keep playing with it to see what is possible. Are you just looking for certain resolutions? If so, I suppose you could make that field selectable and mimic the resolutions you want.

Your concept above is working for now as I'm using a small team to track and don't mind permissions being and issue atm. I have Completed, duplicate, it's OK, and won't do. The transition is doing completed by default and then I'm manually updating after to the preferred resolution if different. Which doesn't happen a lot.

Is there a way that if I change the drop down field it could update the actual resolution field?

Yes. but you will have to move to a classic project or start using automation rules to do that. I'm starting to think you might be using the free version since you mention that you are working with a small team and I don't think the free version has that as part of its features.

I would love to be able to tell you a way to do this in Next-Gen but it ain't possible. I found Next-Gen to be so frustrating that I moved our Next-Gens back to classic just so I could work with them.

In next gens though, I noticed when you mark an issue as done it will show the resolution next to it. I just can't change it to the one I want or run it in workflows.
