How to add story point estimates to Tasks

Hi, I've searched and cannot find anything I can follow, I want to add 'Story Points' to Tasks but there only seems to be the ability to add time.

I know you can add these for Epics but we would like to point each task.

I've managed to suss this out, I just went through Jira Settings > Issues > Edit Configuration,

Hi @Michael Royle 

Do you mean tasks or sub-tasks?

If you mean tasks and you're unable to do it, there's something wrong with your Jira that we need to try and resolve.

If you mean sub-tasks, this is by design and you would need to come up with a workaround - the only one I can think of is to add a custom field which stores the value, but it WON'T add and show on the parent.
