Hi Katie,
We use different statuses depending on what is happening with the card.
Done - finished and completed
Discarded - We have not started it just and are not going to do it it ever
Aborted - We have started it but decided we are no longer going to do it ever.
Abandoned - We have started it but not going to continue working on it for now. It goes to the Backlog and we might pick it up again later.
I hope that helps!

Without officially 'archiving' or deleting a task, you could set up a quick filter to hide tasks that, for example, are in a status category of Done and haven't been updated in x amount of months. This is a more dynamic approach, or alternatively you could use a cut-off date in the quick filter, e.g. all tasks that are in a status category of Done and that haven't been updated since 1st June 2020.
You could also create an 'Archived' status and hide all tasks in this status with a quick filter. But as @Jack Brickey said, there's no real 'archive' button.

You could do that if you like, but it will change the key to the new project. For example, issue ABC-56 will become DEF-3 or something like that. You will still be able to see the history to know which project it came from.

there really isn't an archive issue function. What exactly does archive mean to you? Maybe you can achieve your goals OOTB.

In other systems we have archived tickets that we don't want to delete, but we don't want to keep on the board anymore. We can always access them and reestablish them as active. What do you mean achieve our goals OOTB?
