How to archive projects in Jira without losing important data

Melanie Frasier September 14, 2022

If we trash projects does the time stay until the 30 days is up? I would rather take them off the list for everyone except maybe admin level. Let me know what we can do. Maybe we can make one large project called ARCHIVE and have a way to move all of these projects under that one in perpetuity. What is the best way to go about this please?

Hello @Melanie Frasier

Project Archiving in Jira Cloud is available only with the Premium and Enterprise plans. Refer to

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/archive-a-project/

In Jira Cloud if you move a project to the Trash, after 60 days all information for that project will be permanently deleted. Refer to

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/trash-for-jira-cloud-projects/

And alternative for Company Managed projects is to assign to them a Permission Scheme where the Browse Projects permission is allocated only to your jira administrator user groups. That effectively hides the information from other users.
