How to autopopulate a custom field based on linked issue type in jira ?

I have a custom field called " Dependency Points " (drop down)

I want that if the linked issue type is " is parent of " -> DP = 1 

and if " is child of " -> DP = -1.

Hi Shivi,

I don't use ScriptRunner, but I am pretty sure you could do this with Automation for Jira. They have a Lite version that's free, but not sure if that version would have that functionality.
