How to cancel a story in Jira

Hello

Currently my story workflow is as follow: 

To Do => In progress => Done

I want to add another end status which is "Cancelled", so i can move the story from To Do or In progress to Either "Done" or "Cancelled". I want to have the following option in my Workflow:

To Do => In progress => Done

To Do => Cancelled 

When i tried to add cancel status, it is added as middle status, even when i moved it through the board , i couldn't manage to branch (split) the end status to either Done Or Cancelled

I like the first solution better. Here's a walkthrough for the newbies like me :

• Open your workflow : Issues > Workflows > Choose your workflow and click Edit
• Add a new status and check the box "Allow all statuses to transition to this one"
• In text view, edit the transition to the new status, for exemple Cancelled (51) >> Cancelled
• Add a post function to change the resolution. Post Function > Add post function > Update issue field > Add > and change issue field to "Resolution" and Field value to "Won't do".

Wery nice answer it helps me. And I spend some time t find it. Maybe my flow helps someone too.

• project settings
• workflows-> (edit pen sign)
• Diagram -> add status -> move it on diagram under in progress
• Click on Text near Diagram -> Click on Cancelled -> the same -> post function
  post function could be not editable look above you should see notification "You are editing a draft workflow"

There are two ways to do this:

1. Create a new Cancelled status w/ a Done Category and set up the transitions as desired. Likely just use "All".
2. Create a Cancelled Resolution and continue to use Done but set the Resolution to Cancelled when you cancel a request.

Thanks for the response, it is very helpful, however I have a problem: I would like to apply the first way, but my JIRA instance has the message like <<You can only have one "Done" status.>> Do you know why?
