How to change Default Assignee to somebody else than Project Lead?

I am on JIRA 4.1.2.

I only see Project Lead and Unassigned in the dropdown allowing to change Dafault Assignee.

I want to have specific member of support team to be Default Assigned. I do not want that to be Project lead but somebody else.

How do I do that?

JIRA only allows the project lead OR the component lead if you're using components. There may be a plugin that works, but you're on a pretty old release and finding one supporting your level may be hard. Have you tried a post function to set it? You'd have to put the assignment after the assignment to the default.
