Hello,
at the moment, we have a simple Scrum Board with the columns "To Do", "In Progress", and "Done". I want to add more columns for my teams such as "To Do", "in Dev", "in Review", ...
However, a column needs a status. Therefore I moved existing statuses from the "unmapped statues" to the columns. The problem now is, that we use a workflow which only has the three states "To Do", "In Progress", and "Done". If I now move the status "in acceptance" to a column, I still cannot move an issue into that column because the workflow doesn't have that status included.
We are a big company, and the workflow seems to be fixed for all the projects. I also do not have admin rights to change the workflow.
Is there a way to set up new columns without changing the workflow? Can I somehow create and use columns without statuses, or is it just not possible to have more columns for better visibility in my situation?
Thanks a lot!
Karin
Hi @Karin Haberleithner ,
welcome to the Atlassian community!
Columns are strictly associated with the workflow associated to your issue type. If you need to introduce new columns they need to be associated to one or more workflow statuses otherwise you can't move cards accross columns because that change will not be stored as status in the related workflow.
Hope this helps,
Fabio
Hi @Fabio Racobaldo _Herzum_ ,
thank you and thanks for your fast response.
Is there no other option than adjusting the workflow? There is that organizational rule that the workflow is not allowed to be changed, and currently, it only contains three statuses.
When I would be able to change to a simplified workflow, would that help me disconnect the columns from the workflow?
Thanks a lot for your help

If you will change the workflow, you just need to map new stauses in your board columns (you can also add new columns at your convenience).
Ciao,

I see. I am unhappy that there is no other possibility because we are not allowed to change the workflow. :(
Thanks for your support and quick answers!
