We have recently upgraded our Jira server to version 9.2.0 and encountered a new sorting behavior that is highly inconvenient.

Is there a away to change the sorting default back so that all comments (across all users & projects) will be automatically sorted from oldest to newest as it used to be?

I saw the following old documentation -

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/change-the-default-order-for-comments/

But in light of the recent changes I am not sure if this documentation is still relevant and if it will provide the desired results

Hi @Efrat Bar-Erez ,

  • Access Jira's 'Advanced Settings' page. (See Configuring advanced settings for more information.)
  • Edit the value of the jira.issue.actions.order property by clicking the existing value and changing it from asc to desc
  • Click the 'Update' button to save the new value in the Jira database.

This is described in https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver0902/configuring-advanced-settings-1168855127.html

Thanks, I have tried this change on our dev environment but it does not seem to affect the comments order.
