How to change the subject of an emailed filter to add the current date?

Hey, so I'm attempting to make some changes to the subject lines on some of the emails we're sending out from Jira, specifically the ones for filter subscriptions. Two changes to them have been requested: Removing the "Subscription" prefix, and adding todays date at the end of it. I thought I could follow the docs on how to do it, but looking at the doc and then at the the subject file....I'm awful confused. Here's what I'm looking at:

#disable_html_escaping()
#text('template.subscription.header.name'): ${searchRequest.getName()}

I think if I remove the ('template.subscription.header.name') part that might get rid of the prefix. But how can I add the date? For some reason I'm having trouble figuring that out, but I think I should be able to. And clues? Thanks!
