How to copy a short part of the Description text to a custom field?

Is it possible to use automation to copy just a short part of the description text to a custom field?

Now I can only copy the entire description text, but i need to get only the ticket number itself.

Yes that is possible.

There are a variety of string manipulation functions you can use to get a piece of a longer string.
