How to customize the timeline in Jira Work Management?

Is it possible to sort the timeline overview based on project or epic, in a Jira Work Management bord?

It's not currently possible to do that in JWM. I would suggest you vote for and follow this open Atlassian feature ticket: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JWMCLOUD-111

Also, if you have a Premium Subscription for Jira, then you can probably do what you want to do using Plans.

While it's not possible in Jira by default, you can use Planyway app for that.

Currently there is no option to filter by the epic or project, only the given filters by JWM.
