How to delete a JIRA dashboard when owner user doesn't exist?

Aniket Kulkarni June 12, 2020

We recently moved our JIRA use from the local copy to the cloud. We moved over the existing JIRA projects from our local version to the cloud with data export/import. We only wanted to move one of the projects actually, so we went ahead and deleted the rest. All was good so far, but then there are dashboards for the deleted projects, which remained around. Now, the interesting issue is those dashboard owner users were never onboarded to the JIRA cloud version, and so it won't show us delete option for those dashboards (only shows copy option). How can I get rid of those dashboards?

It looks like we may have hit a bug where if you import existing JIRA data and only onboard part of the users, then dashboards owned by those non-onboarded users can't be deleted. Is there any workaround for this?

Hi @Aniket Kulkarni , welcome to the Community. A system admin should be able to do this for you under jira settings > system > shared dashboards.

That worked. Thanks, Jack! You are awesome! I didn't expect to get this fast reply :) The JIRA community is superbly helpful. Have a great day and weekend.

Great! and that is why so many of us volunteer - help other members thru the learning process and one day become Community Leaders themselves!

Cheers!
