How to disable the standard export function in JIRA when using Xporter?

For some projects the complete Export function for issues and also on the single issue view should be disabled in order to prevent user generating exports. Using Xporter you can control this with permission schemes, but is it also possible to disable the standard export of JIRA completely or for particular projects?

One way to disable it is to hide the button itself which can be done by hacking to the vm files of the JQL results page. I have done this before by removing the "Delete Project" button in the Project config screen.
