How to fill custom fields on project A with CF values from project B?

Greetings,

I was migrating several projects from Jira instance A to instance B. After migration, I deleted several custom fields that came with the import, because I already had custom fields prepared to use for the improted projects in instance B. Sadly, I forgot that the old fields contain data. In the meantime, I have already started working with those projects and new issues came on top of what was migrated.

I would like to get the deleted data back into instance B. I could probably then utilize ScriptRunner to copy values from old fields to new fields. How should I approach this?

What I have tried:
CSV import - only updates issues if I add a new Summary.
Third party add-ons - Configuration Manager doesn't solve my issue, as it would only copy the old data again.

Thank you!

CSV method is the easiest.  You'd need the following columns at minimum:

  • Jira issue key (the one you you want to update)
  • Summary (whatever you have in the CSV will replace what is on the Jira issue)
  • Custom field values
