We recently moved from Jira server. Previously I believe when a user commented on an issue they would be auto added as a watcher. This no longer appears to be happening after our switch to Jira Cloud. Is there a setting to turn this on I'm unaware of?

Hi ! Here is some intel about it :

You can choose whether or not to automatically watch issues you comment on or update. You can go to Your profile and settings () > Personal settings to see and set your Watch your issues preference on Yes.

More info here : https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/watch-share-and-comment-on-an-issue/

Have a nice day. :D

Hm, seems it is the same feature as on server / dc.

You can have it set globally and the standard in your personal settings says "Follow the global settings". You can overwrite that global setting with Yes, auto watch or No, don't auto watch.

So probably your sites global setting is Off and you have not set anything in your personal settings.

And additionally there are more options in your personal settings to decide wether or not to receive a notification. See https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/manage-your-jira-personal-settings/

Cheers

(edit: i wrote "profile" before, which is wrong, it is "personal settings")
