How to hide released versions?

I have two fields are affects version and fix version on the issue creation screen, we run sprint with various versions in one sprint for our SD project. How can I implement that only unreleased versions are visible to the creator rather than both released and unreleased versions.

The quick and easy option here is to archive the version. When that is done the archived version will not display as an option.

While I do not currently have experience with ScriptRunner, I found a script from 2019 that worked for a community member facing your same issue:

I suggest giving the script a try.

This issue has been raised as a feature request before, but did not gain enough traction for Atlassian to implement:

Thank you for sharing this. We tried to archive the version and it solved our problem for now. I saw the shared links and these are really helpful. Will keep an eye on it if anything new come up in the near future.
