How to import Comments and Attachments via CSV file?

Talib Usmani August 2, 2023

I am Importing project from ASANA to JIRA and I am unable to import comments and attachments using the CSV file? How to import it?
Also If a story has multiple comments, how they will be placed against that story in CSV format?

Hi Talib,

If you are moving to Jira cloud you won't be able to do attachments via CSV as it requires access to the database.

For comments you can do them after. You can see more information on this previous community post: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Service-Management/How-to-import-Comments-amp-Attachments-using-the-CSV-Importer/qaq-p/1921044

Best,
Clark

Thanks Clark. I am able to solve this issue but still JIRA should find a way to automatically import the comments and attachments using the CSV.

Hey @Talib Usmani

It is absolutely possible to import comments and attachments via a CSV import. With comments and attachments, each one needs to be in its own column in order to show as separate comments. Attachments also have to be able to be accessed by Jira so often need to be on a publicly accessible server.

You can see more information on https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/importing-data-from-csv-938847533.html
