Hello,
I´m quite new with Jira, so I try to experimentate with some Project Types.
I created a Leads Tracking Project to manage my Customer Relations. Is there a possibility to add a field for personal customer information and then contact the customer within my Leads Tracking Project?
Can someone also point out the potential of this Leads Trackin Project type. I´m not quite sure about the functionality it adds.
Thank you a lot!
Tobias
Hello Tobias,
Welcome to Atlassian Community!
The Lead Tracking project can be used to track sales opportunities through to the conversion, so you can keep your team and yourself aware of what kind of sales approaching your sales team is currently applying and how they are going with this.
You can check a detailed explanation with some examples in the documentation below:
- Using JIRA Core for Sales Teams
About your question:
Is there a possibility to add a field for personal customer information and then contact the customer within my Leads Tracking Project?
Yes, you can definitely create new custom fields to add your customer information to the JIRA task as described in this documentation.
Basically, you can add checkboxes, text fields, Select lists and other options by navigating to JIRA Settings > Issues > Custom fields and click to add a new custom field, selecting the project screens you want the field to be displayed.
Since the Lead Tracking Project is for internal management, it is not possible to contact/interact with the customer directly from them, unless you add them with a JIRA license to your site (it would count in your billing subscription).
That being said, the ideal scenario to use this project would be:
1 - Your Sales team identify a sale opportunity for a customer, so they create a new task in the Lead Tracking project with all the customer information (E-mail, phone, proposal, etc) and steps taken so far
2 - During their interaction (Through e-mail, Phone, chat, etc), your Sales team will add new comments with all the updates during their interaction and how they are proceeding with the negotiations.
