How to label specific child issues to make a custom calendar

Lisa Mills March 7, 2023

I'm not sure if I can do this, or if it's possible on this software... I'll explain as best I can: We use this software for our Marketing Team and marketing projects. The child issues are the specific tasks required for each marketing campaign. What I want to do is be able to tag specific "child issues" to mark emails going out to easily see this on a calendar and where different campaigns overlap. To add a level to this, not all child issues are emails. I only want to tag the ones that are.

Hello @Lisa Mills

Welcome to the Atlassian community!

There are a variety of ways to categorize issues.

You can use Components and Labels to add "tags" to issues. Each of these fields can hold multiple "tag" values.

You could have a custom field that is a checkbox to indicate that the issue is an "email" issue.

You could have a custom Issue Type that is used only for your "email" issues.

With regard to seeing these issues on a calendar, how would you expect them to appear on the calendar? Would you want them to show on a single day, or each one span a range of days?

Are these issues in a Jira Software project or a Jira Work Management project? A Software project will say "Software project" at the top of the navigation pane on the left, just below the Project Name. A Work Management project will not have any designation of project type in that same location.

Jira Work Management projects come with built in Calendar and Timeline features that are not available in Software project. Software projects come with a Roadmap feature that might suit your needs.
