I don't want to use a Referenced Object Custom field, because I want the field to work even if nothing is selected in the other field.
The objects (object 1) in the field I'm trying to configure (field 1) will have inbound references from the objects (object 2) in the other field (field 2). Which is to say, object 2 will have an attribute where object 1 is the value.
I've seen this working before, but can't find the example. I could ask the person who got it working, but wanted to ask here so others looking for the answer can find it as well.
