How to link epic to initiative even when i have portfolio epic level in the advanced roadmap hierarc

Hello, 

I have a jira data center instance and I am trying to link an Epic to an Initiative.

I have succeeded in doing that when the hierarchy was Initiative -> Epic -> Story -> sub-task.

However, I need to add another level of hierarchy between Epic and Initiative of Portfolio Epic.

Is it possible to link between the Epic and the Initiative directly even when I added the Portfolio Epic in the middle? and if so, how? because it won't let me when I try :(

the answer to your question, unfortunately, is no - it is not possible. Parent Links are only available from the child to the parent hierarchy level, without the possibility to skip an hierarchy level in the middle.

When adding Portfolio Epic as an additional issue type in between Initiative and Epic, you can only link Epics to Portfolio Epics, and Portfolio Epics to Initiatives as parents.
