How to make tasks on board expandable rows?

Arthur Brown February 2, 2024

So in my current project i want to create a workflow, in which i have separate boards
backlog and kanban boards
i want my kanban board to look like a list of expandable rows, each row is a story/task/bug brought from backlog, and each one has subtasks under it . When you expand the task, you can see it's subtasks, and you can move them between the status columns.

Hi @Arthur Brown and welcome to the Community!

If you're using team managed projects, you can create these expandable rows with the group by feature that you will find near the top right of your kanban board. Select group by Sub-tasks to get the desired view.

In a company managed project, navigate to board settings > swimlanes and right there select stories to group by. That wil create groups for the story level issues, which tasks belong to.

Hope this helps!

Hi @Walter Buggenhout

Thanks for welcoming and for the answer!
For sure it helped me to solve my problem. I use Team Managed project.
I couldn't do this at first because i had no subtasks under each task, so when grouping, my tasks were going under the expandable row. So i created automation to create subtasks for any Story, bug or Task creation, and it solved the problem

Thanks again for the help:)
