How to manage a project using APIs on Jira Cloud? What permissions one should have to do it?

If one needs to manage a Jira project via Rest APIs on Jira Cloud;

1) What permissions one should have?

2) Are there any risks (i.e., updating of data inadvertently for any other projects)?

3) Is there any recommended browser extension or plugin need to be used?

4) Pls. suggest documentation/videos, which can be referred to begin with.

Welcome to community. To manage a project even via REST API follows the same permission you would have on the UI, the difference being you can control one outside of Jira's platform. However, why would you like to manage a Jira project programmatically? Is there any feature within the UI that restricts you from using it the way its intended or what specific use case do you want to achieve? I think knowing this helps us to guide you on what is actually feasible rather than telling you what can or cannot be done.

As such there is no issue via Jira UI, however need to explore Rest API. Pls. suggest the following:

- Are there any risks (i.e., updating of data inadvertently for any other projects)?

- Is there any recommended browser extension or plugin need to be used?

- Any documentation/videos, which can be referred to begin with.

• Atlassian cloud has many authentication methods ranging from API token to JWT to OAuth - all of which are secured. So i will say none except human error.

- Is there any recommended browser extension or plugin need to be used?

• You need to say exactly what you would like to manage within a project to expand on this. However there are many integration such as PowerBI integration with Jira. I might be reaching too far without knowing specifics.

- Any documentation/videos, which can be referred to begin with.

• I haven't come across a video explaining on REST API, however you should start from here which is the official documentation from Atlassian.
