How to modify listening ports using only application-data?

soerenkornetzki January 29, 2018

I have the following environment in front of me:

  • /data/jira/
Application data (aka "data dir") for Jira Software server.
  • /app/jira/
Application binaries (aka "binary dir") for Jira Software server.

I have the following requirements:

  • Jira Software server control port 6100
  • Jira Software server HTTP port 6101 (proxy setup)
  • Jira Software server HTTPS port 6102 (proxy setup)

Is there a way to change the listening ports without touching the binary dir but have changes only (except patching the data dir) within the data dir?

Is not the case that "every" update causes issues with my diff/patch file to patch the binary dir config file in order to listen in the above mentioned way, but it seems to me that it is more common these days (due to nice added features that requires additional config sections). Patching the data dir however had never caused a patch fail since now.

No, you need to amend the Tomcat settings in the installation's /conf directory.
