We are having some users who are flagging business epics instead of stories or issues. We want them only to use the flag on stories/issues, so we want to remove that option in the business epics, initiatives and features.
Is there a posibility for this?
Hi Joa!
You can do this by creating a separate Field configuration for Epics in your project:
Go to Administration (the cog next to your profile picture in the menu) -> Issues -> Field configurations -> Copy the Default Field Configuration (unless you're using a custom one for your project, then copy that) -> Name it something that makes sense for you, like PROJECTKEY: Epic Field Configuration.
Locate your newly created copy and click on Configure in the Actions column.
Locate the field Flagged and click on Hide in the Actions column.
Connect the Epics in your project to your new configuration: Project settings -> Fields -> Actions -> Edit fields -> Associate an issue type with a field configuration
Find the Epic issue type and your new Field configuration in the drop down and click Add.
One caveat is that the option to flag an issue will still be present, but it won't be flagged. It won't show up in JQLs/Filters either if you have that set up with flagged as a criteria.
I hope it solved the situation, or at least made it a bit better. If that is not good enough you can also set up an automations to remove it if you use Automation for Jira.
I can show you how to do this if that's the case :)
