Hi.
as part of a large clean up I’ve deleted many many status options and purged workflows and archived projects. However it seems that in drop downs or auto complete field if I do a query like status = <previously deleted status> then the query runs, no results returned but why do I see these old status? The impact is around boards where I see all these unmapped status which I have deleted but which now make our board configuration a pain.
wondering what I’m missing. The showconstants page also lists all these status and for the life of me I can’t understand how.
help :)
Hi Greg,
When you say you have "deleted status", do you mean "removed them from the workflows", or have you actually deleted the global objects, and all the status from all the team-managed projects?
For company-managed projects, Status is a global object. To remove them, you need to remove them from all the workflows using them, and then go to Admin -> Issues -> Status and check the list - the unused ones will have a "delete" option next to them. You need to use that to remove them from the lists of possible options in searches and drop-downs.
For team-managed projects, you will need to go into each project and look at the issue type's workflows. Deleting the status from the workflow will remove them from the lists.
Hi @Greg Cook
I assume you actually deleted the statuses as well as removing them from all Workflows?
On Data Center I would restart the Server and do a ReIndex. You could kindly ask the Atlassian Support to do that for your Cloud site. I know they have the option from personal experience.

Restart and re-index can not help. Jira does not cache status, and although it does index it, deleting a status triggers it to remove all entries from the index.
Atlassian support will not re-index a Cloud site unless they find errors in the index, and they will spot them before most of us do.
