I am trying to remove the issue type "Risk" from showing up under backlog and Kanban view but still have a way to filter risks using quick filtering.

Hello Vishv,

Welcome to Atlassian community.

Since the board filter runs before the quick filtering query, if you remove the risk issue type from your board kanban/backlog you will not be able to return it in a quick filter.

That been said, my suggestion would be to use the quick filter to do the opposite to have both views with the field displaying/not displaying: Remove the mentioned issue type.

Then, you should keep the default kanban/backlog view with the issue type displaying.

Quick filter to don't display the risk issue type:

- Navigate to board settings > Quick filters > Set the following:

Issuetype != risk

Let me know if this information helps.
