For projects with multiple Epics / Parents I cannot find how to report on Epics nor extract issues by Epic. When exporting all issues to filter in Excel, there is no Epic name or Epic ID column. Also, My Parent ID column is empty.

Hello Jeff,

Thank you for reaching out.

Checking the tags added to your question, I believe you are exporting the issues from a Next-gen project. Right?

Indeed, Next-gen projects Epic links work in a different way than Classic project, where Epics are considered unique entities and it's not used any kind of fields (Epic Link) to identify the Epic relationship.

We have a feature request to implement this functionality:

As a user, I'd like to be able to use JQL for Epic Link for Next-Gen project epics

Feel free to vote and watch the suggestion to increase its priority and also receive notifications about any updates.

For now, I can suggest two possible workarounds:

1 - Export a single CSV file for each issue with a common Epic, so you will be able to differentiate them. To return issues from a Specific Epic in JQL, you can use the following:

parent = EPIC-123

2 - Use a custom field to identify which Epic the issue is linked to, just like the Epic link in JIRA Classic projects, although you would need an app to make this field automatically.

Let me know if you still have any questions.
