How to restrict edit access for perticular tabs.

HI All,

We have a requirement , i need to give edit access for developers group for prioritization tab and give only view access for testers group for the same tab when the workflow is in  inprogress state and also when the status is moved to next stage  i need to give edit access for developers group for other tab which is TDM tab and for testers group only view access to be given for TDM tab. Is there any possible feature in jira to achieve the same. image attached for reference. image attached for reference.

Great question - out of the box there is no role based permissions on tabs or field level security. However, you can achieve this with a creative method.

1. Split the View/Edit screen for the issue type(s) so that all fields in the "Prioritization" tab are NOT on the Edit screen but ARE on the View screen.
2. Update the screen scheme to use the new Edit Screen for Edit and the new View Screen for View.
   1. This then makes the fields read only for everyone.
3. Create another new screen called "Update Prioritization" (or whatever you wish to name it). All all the fields that should be editable into this screen in the correct order.
4. Create a transition on the Workflow called "Update Prioritization", it's source status should be "Any" and destination should be "itself". This makes it an "Action" which is a button that shows up next to the status transition on the issue view.
5. Add conditions to this transition allowing only members of the project role/group "Developer" to access it.
6. Publish your workflow

Now you have the ability to have read only views for everyone, while giving your developers access to edit!
