How to set automaticly an Epic Link in a Ticket (Backlog, Incoming Mail)?

Hi 

We have created a rule in Outlook that creates automatically a ticket in the backlog of a project when a certain email content is received. Can we make a rule within Jiira in which a desired Epic Link is set in the tickets, when they are created?

e.g. email with a "5" in the email body creates a ticket within Jiira. Can Jiira create a link based on the number in the body to generate a certain link to a epic?

If yes, can we even create a rule, where a different Epic Link is set in the ticket according to the content?

Unfortunately, we did not find anything suitable.

Hi @Lena Bernhard and welcome to the community!

Yes this could be possible with a combination an Advanced Compare If condition using a regular expression match.  However, I would caveat that effectiveness is directly correlated to the consistency of the text you need to match.  Also, it can get gnarly if you're dealing with more than a handful of epics.
