How to show Board or Backlog field on the issue details page?

Gabriel Radic July 1, 2022

I'm using a Kanban board here. When opening an Issue details page, I need to see if it's on the active Kanban board or in the Backlog.

How can I show a tickets Board or Backlog position on the issue details page?

This is something I need all the time.

Ideally, I'd like to also update that setting, like I can do for tickets on a board with Sprints.

Hi @Gabriel Radic and welcome to the Community!

Things don't work that way. An issue is in the backlog of your board because it is in the status that maps to the backlog (status) of your board. You should be able to derive whether an issue is in the backlog from (on your screenshot) the big blue status indication.

If by backlog position you mean the column on the board, I can refer to my previous comment. Yet again, this is determined by its status. If you mean the issue's order in a column, that is something you can only see by looking at the board itself.

Hope this helps!

To expand on "things don't work that way", it's a good thing to understand what a board (and its associated backlog) is - they are not containers for issues, they are a view of a selection.  There's no "board position" or "backlog position" field (that is of any use to a human), the position is a function of how you're viewing the issues.
