How to show CORRECT aspect ratio for card images?

I updated my "Card layout" to add an Images field which uses the Attachments field to show an image. I've got it mostly working, but it does NOT respect the original aspect ratio of the uploaded image, which distorts square images into rectangles.

Is there a way to fix this so it always shows the preview card cover image as the same aspect ratio? Like on Trello and other apps where the original image's proportions are respected.

I can't seem to find documentation that specifies configuration options, if any.
