For JWM project it is possible, but not for software projects

It shows that there are child issues but does not show it as a tree

From Timeline configuration, I have enabled also include child-level issues

Hello @Martin Vali

I had the exact same issue on my instance. What I did is that I created a new Plan and from now on I only navigate on the plan timeline to visualize the full hierarchy.

The steps are the following:

  • Access Advanced Roadmaps:
    • Navigate to the Plans section in your Jira instance.
    • If you haven't created a plan yet, click on Create plan and follow the prompts to set up your plan, selecting the relevant issue sources (boards, projects, or filters) that include your subtasks.

  • Configure issue hierarchy:

    • Within your plan, go to Settings > Hierarchy configuration.
    • Ensure that the hierarchy includes subtasks. The default hierarchy is Epic > Story > Subtask. If subtasks are missing, add them to the hierarchy.
  • Ensure subtasks are properly linked:

    • Subtasks should be directly associated with their parent stories or tasks. In Advanced Roadmaps, subtasks linked directly to epics may not display correctly.
  • View subtasks on the timeline:

    • After configuring the hierarchy and ensuring correct linking, return to your plan's timeline view.
    • Expand the parent issues to see the associated subtasks displayed on the timeline.

They explain it pretty well in their doc as well!

@Clara Belin-Brosseau_Elements than you for you replay. I hoped there would be simpler option possible, as we as an organisation is not yet ready for plans

Current workaround is to use plans if you have JIRA premium.
