How to show supplument text to custom field: select list (asingle choice)

Let me assume there is a custom field (field name: Status with option 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, field type:Select List (single choice)). When select any option from Status, I want to show supplement text at Status field.

e.g. When select 1 from Status, want to show supplement text:"Long delay, out of control" like

"1 Long delay, out of control" at Status field. Is it possible to show supplement text? If yes, how can we

define value: 1 in Status field?

Try using a "cascading select" instead.
