How to signal a web page from java/groovy without reloading it

Hi all,

I am looking for a way to implement behavior similar to Jira development integration plugin, where a web panel immediately displays (without reloading) new elements when new branch or pull request is created. I understand there's some javascript involved, but I can't get how to trigger javascript in a web page from server without reloading it.

In particular, I am willing to have this in a web panel, which I implement in ScriptRunner/groovy.

Jira server 7.12.3, latest script runner.
