How to stop people editing a field without seperating the view and create screens

Jira does not natively support restrictions on editing at the field level.

There are some special cases, such as the ability to change the Assignee field is based on the Assign Users permission.

For what fields are you trying to restrict editing? What problem are you trying to solve by restricting editing.
