How to switch workflow in Jira

Hi,

I want to switch the current workflow with a new one.

Do we have any document/content that has a step by step guide how to do in correct way

Also, using previous workflow under a project, I have many critical data points collected through various custom fields. When I switch workflow, will these data points get wiped off/altered?

Hi @Mayur Gaikwad_Tech PMO ,

I would recommend checking out official support docs related to this: Add, edit, and delete a work item workflow scheme / How to configure a workflow scheme associated with a project

Basically, you can either update the existing workflow scheme by replacing a workflow with a new one or create a new one and assign it to the Jira project.

As for this:

Also, using previous workflow under a project, I have many critical data points collected through various custom fields. When I switch workflow, will these data points get wiped off/altered?

> No. Once you set a new workflow, only workflow steps/statuses will be updated and you'll potentially need to map existing statuses with new ones. As for all other data that is already added to work items (e.g. custom field values), these will remain as it.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Tobi

Hi @Mayur Gaikwad_Tech PMO

You can find the documentation below:

Configure workflow schemes | Atlassian Support

About data collected, the data will remain in the fields it has been stored in, so it will not be wiped
