How to test your JIRA setup?

We've not imported 600 or so issues to test the accuracy of our field mappings, screen schemes, CSV import, etc.  We are making adjustments as needed and are now ready to re-import our data.

• Is there a way to "clean out" the test issues so we will only see/have our latest test import?
• Do people make backups prior to each test, re-import after each test and then tweek as needed?
• Is there any standard method for doing what I propose or can someone suggest a better way to go about testing?

@Jim Malgieri- The best way to test things like that is to create a test system that would be copy of production. You can use a developer license and use this instance always when you need to verify something (like importing 600 issues or plugin/system upgrade). If data is old you can do a database update (replication). When you feel comfortable you can later do the same steps on PRD. Less chance that something would go wrong.
